This year we're celebrating two decades of dedication, innovation, and growth!
Throughout our 20 years, we have witnessed the ever-evolving landscape of technology, adapting and thriving in an industry that is known for its rapid changes. Our success has been rooted in our ability to not just keep pace with these changes but to set new standards for quality and reliability in refurbished IT hardware.
Our journey began in 2004 when our Managing Director, Dave Bell, started the company by selling refurbished hardware on eBay from his garage. For the first five years, Dave ran the operation single-handedly before expanding in 2009, growing the team to four. By 2011, LA Micro had grown to six employees and secured its first office and warehouse space in Windsor.
As business boomed in 2014, with orders rapidly increasing, we expanded our warehouse space in Windsor and hired eight more staff, bringing the team to a total of 14. That same year, the company earned a place on the prestigious Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list. By 2015, we had acquired our fifth warehouse to keep pace with growth.
Fast forward to 2017, and the company generated £24M in turnover with a workforce of 34 employees. In 2019, two divisions were launched—Bytestock and LA Direct Solutions—to cater separately to retail and wholesale markets. The growth continued, and by 2021, we had moved to a 20,000 sq. ft office and warehouse facility. During this time, we achieved four ISO accreditations: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 27001, further solidifying our commitment to quality and sustainability.
In 2023, LA Micro was recognised with the ‘Best IT Hardware Supplier 2023 - Berkshire Award’ and the ‘SME Employer Choice Award 2023’ by SME News. This year, in 2024, we proudly celebrate our 20th anniversary, a milestone that reflects its continuous growth and dedication to excellence in the IT industry.
